Although the walk is short, it is quite intense, with most of the route being uphill towards a mound separating Cala Mesquida and Cala Agulla. You will find a medieval watchtower situated about 300 metres high on this hike.
You can reach this Mallorca viewpoint from either Cala Mesquida or Cala Agulla, although the scenic beauty of starting the route from Cala Agulla is unparalleled. From this point, each step takes you through Mediterranean landscapes, culminating in a display of views of the sea and much of the Mallorcan coastline.

#3 Mirador Penya des Migdia: Another view of Formentor, Alcúdia, and Pollença
The hike to Penya des Migdia or Penya Rotja is a well-known trail starting from the Ermita de la Victoria in Alcúdia, and ending at the Mirador Penya des Migdia. The path is easy to follow but has a certain level of danger in the final stretch, as it is rocky and somewhat narrow. Are you up for it? The reward for those who take on the challenge is the breathtaking panoramic views of the island’s northern coast, at over 350 metres high.
During the roughly two-and-a-half-hour route, you will pass by three large stone crosses, from which you will see the first panoramic views—not comparable to the final viewpoint, of course.
And there are many more attractions and challenges along the way! There is a small stone tunnel that goes through the mountain, taking you directly to the lower part of Penya des Migdia. Additionally, you’ll find chains and various aids to help you overcome the more complex sections, adding an adventurous touch to the excursion. The route ends in a small esplanade with several military remains from the time when corsairs and pirates plagued the island. At the summit, you will find an immense bronze cannon known as “Canó des Moro,” marking the final point of the route.
From there, you have 360° views that include Cap Pinar, the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença, the Formentor peninsula, and part of the Serra de Tramuntana. On a clear day, you can also enjoy beautiful views of Menorca, the neighbouring island. After the hike, you must visit some of the best beaches in Alcúdia—they are not to be missed.
