Its History

Buger, the smallest municipality in Mallorca, has a rich history dating back to prehistoric times, with vestiges in the Can Mossenya cave and the Talayotic settlement of Rafal des Puig.

During the Roman and Islamic era, the area was very productive thanks to its irrigation system. In the 13th century, after the Catalan conquest, Buger became part of the crown of Barcelona. Over the centuries, the town experienced political and social conflicts, including struggles for ecclesiastical independence and banditry.

In the 19th century, Buger became municipally independent, becoming an autonomous municipality with notable growth towards the 20th century.
